T.A.C.O. (Taranaki Artists Co-Operative) was formed during the 1970's. Members operated from a gallery in King Street (above the then CT Club) where they showed their work. It was also the organising force behind an annual exhibition called Renonsence.
A copy of a transcription of a recorded panel discussion regarding the rights of TACO to hold an exhibition in the Govett Brewster Art Gallery. Councillor, Eddie Collins was in the Chair with panellists being Michael Smither, Jim Barr, Wynstan Curnow, Dick Bett and Ian Hunter. Questions were presented to the panel by members of TACO. The title of the debate was The Gorilla in Art.
