Description
Ralph Swan was born in England and came to New Zealand aged 20. He worked in Longbeach Estate, Ashburton and had various other jobs before taking up land at Tarata with his partner Tom Chomley. Both were bachelors. Tom had the first car in the Tarata district and died in a car accident 1916. Ralph ran a sheep farm on Motukawa Road, Tarata. He is the Grand Uncle of the donor.
Two note books containing farm accounts and notes, mentioning various people (presumably in the Tarata district).
The second notebook containing information on shearing, dog breeding, sheep dipping etc.
