Edmund James (1841-1912) and Edwin Robert (1843-1903) were brothers and born in Gillingham, Dorset. They along with much of their family emigrated to NZ and settled in the Whanganui and Taranaki districts. Edwin later settled in Rahotu and stayed there till his death.
