Description
Leather bound diary that once belonged to George Maxwell, settler, farmer, and member of the militia during the Taranaki Wars. Diary is more like a ledger book with vertical lines in the inside pages. Metal clasps on the front and back covers.
A copy of his diary sixteen years after migrating to New Zealand and gives a day-to-day account of life. There are additional notes regarding family history, which were compiled by David Harrop, New Plymouth for the Valantine- Maxwell Reunion in Dunedin 1988.
