New Plymouth Harbour Board

Description
A collection comprising sixteen linear metres of boxed files and bound volumes containing correspondence, minutes, financial records/ledgers and valuation rolls, detailing the development of the New Plymouth Harbour, Patea Harbour and the Taranaki Harbours Board.
The collection includes engineers' reports, agents reports, mariner's notices, the construction of the breakwater and harbour and an extensive map and plan collection that includes information on the maintenance of reserves such as Kawau Pa and Eliot Reserve and sections of the foreshore leased by the Railways.
Also included is information on sand dune stabilisation, use of Crown Lands, leases of Board land, appointments to positions, maintenance, references and testimonials, management of Maori land etc.
A paper inventory has been made of the photographs and map and plan collection. These are also available on microfiche.
Margaret de Jardine has created indexes for correspondence files in Boxes 1-50 covering the period 1879 – 1923
