Description
In 1981, Parihaka commemorated the 100 year centennial of the sacking of the pa. Under the auspices of the Taranaki Community Work Scheme, Vivian Hutchinson researched and compiled a slide/tape presentation for the Taranaki Museum. Working with the approval and support of Parihaka Trustees, he selected historic photographic images from the Taranaki Museum and the Alexander Turnbull Library's collections, wrote a script which was later recorded at Radio 2ZP. Vivian Hutchinson and Materena Rau Kupa are the narrators. The presentation is titled Parihaka : a photographic survey 1981.
Collection includes a 2013 digital restoration commissioned by Aunt Matarena’s family to commemorate the 100th anniversary of her birth on 15th March 1913. An online version of this digital recording is available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQGbE1aj0V0&feature=player_detailpage.
