Description
The inaugural meeting which saw the formation of the Friends of the Taranaki Museum was held in July 1959. At this time, the Museum was administered by the Taranaki Museum and New Plymouth Library Committee and was yet to appoint its first paid Director, however, within six months, Rigby Allan was appointed to the position. The first minutes record Dr Roger Duff’s visits at which he planned the 1960 Waitara swamp excavation.
