Description
The first radio station in Taranaki was established in New Plymouth on 27 April 1929 as station 2YB operated by the North Taranaki Radio Society. Control of the station moved to the New Zealand Broadcasting Service in 1944 and the name changed to 2XP in September 1948.
A collection that includes photographs, radio scripts and newspaper clippings of Radio Taranaki activities, photographs and biographical details of E.J.L. (Ted) Payne President of the North Taranaki Radio Society, Station Director and an announcer of 2YB 1925 - 1931, and documents relating to the celebration of 75 years of broadcasting.
