Description
Several private schools were operating in the Omata area in 1853. The first public school was opened in 1866, two years before the formation of the Taranaki Education Board. In 1937, the Hurford Road School amalgamated with Omata.
The records consist of Omata School Committee minutes 1897-1979; log books 1896-1924 and 1931-1983; admission registers 1895-1969; some financial records and also the Hurford Road School admission book for 1932-1937.
