Description
A compilation recording of extracts from 4 interviews. The first is with Mrs Williams and an unidentified man talking of burning off the bush and early dairying in the Hawera area and Mr Robin's general store
The second is an unidentified man talking about E M Smith's experiments with iron sand. He speaks of watching E M Smith and his father trialing the smelting of iron sand
The third is Mrs Peters talking about the manual work Mr Peters used to perform on the family farm. She talks of clearing the land, felling trees, building fences etc.
The fourth is an unidentified woman talking of her recollections of childhood in the Opunake / Parihaka area including stories about her father who was a soldier stationed there.
