Description
Copies of letters sent from Dick Baunton to his parents while serving overseas in Canada and the United Kingdom, 1939-1945.
Born in New Plymouth, Richard Baunton attended Central School and New Plymouth Boys' High. Accepted for University, he partially completed a B.A. in History before he enlisted in the New Zealand Army and then the R.N.Z.A.F. in January 1944 and underwent navigator training in Canada and the United Kingdom.
On return to New Zealand, he resumed his studies, completed a B.A. with a dissertation on C. W. Richmond. He then took up a teaching position at New Plymouth Boys' High School a position he held for many years. Richard Baunton died on 6 July 1975 aged 83 years.
