Description
Earthenware toby jug depicting a Maori kuia- 'Wahine'- with a moko wearing a red head scarf decorated at the neck with a green koruru/mask (which is intended as a hei tiki?), a green tunic and smoking a pipe. The handle of the jug is a green and yellow painted wahaika (hand weapon) with the butt of the weapon resting on the wahine's shoulder and the curved end leaning against the side of her head. The handle of the wahaika is decorated with koru-like shapes. The spout of the jug is shaped on the side of the figure's head.
