Description
Established in 1904, Wai Yep & Co General Store was situated on the corner of Tasman and Havelock streets, Opunake. The store was closed in 1977 with Charlie Yep remaining in Opunake, he ran a radio and electronics division of the company.
The records illustrate the type of goods sold. They include a selection of customer charge accounts which itemise purchases by individual families in the late 1920's.
Also included are various publications written in Chinese and a number of account books showing loans and financial matters - likewise written in Chinese.
