A manuscript copy of a contract dated 17 September 1862, between Surgeon A J Foard of the US Army and Dr W A Lightbourne of Sparta, Tennessee, the latter agreeing to serve as Medical Officer for the US Army at Sparta. While the original bore the seals of both Foard and Lightbourne, this copy bears no such seals.
