John and Ann Henwood farmed land at Piko Rd, Okoki. Ann Henwood was the daughter of Colour-Sergeant Samuel Scammell.
Ann Henwood writes to Bertha about the First World War. John Henwood writes to his son who is serving overseas 1917. The letter gives news from home and illustrates the concern of those left waiting at home. Also included is a poem by H (Hector?) Dempsey, written for John Henwood's birthday - the poem describes members of the Bowling Club to which they both belong. All of have been transcribed.

An undated letter from Ann to Bertha. Mentions the war (WWI) but not her son's participation. Presumably the letter was written before he signed up.

Letter from John to son, dated April 10 1917. The son (not named) was serving overseas WWI. The letter gives news of home and illustrates the concern of both parents.

A Poem written by H Dempsy for John Henwood's birthday 27th May 1927. The poem describes members of the Bowling Club to which they belong.
