Description
During World War Two the Government set up the emergency precaution scheme (EPS) which supervised Civil Defence, including the blackout, air-raid shelters, and the provision of sand bucket and stirrup pumps, against the risk of fire.
The collection consists of letters and petrol coupons for issuing to Emergency Precaution Scheme (EPS) officials, a booklet issued to householders in the New Plymouth Borough and Taranaki County and a Circular letter of 8 February 1941, requesting help providing transport in event of an emergency.

My father was initially appointed district warden for the Shirley primary district. Next he became senior warden for Christchurch where he wrote a plan for the cities defence, which when forwarded to Wellington. was used all around NZ My Brother has writen a booklet recording information about this time.
