Description
Oral history. Alison Robinson talks with Drs Graham and Barbara Gordon at 16 Lysander Street, Stratford 12th February 1999. Graham begins with a statement on his mother's (Doris Gordon) preference for private medical practice rather than the public service mentioning her private hospital 'Marire'. He gives the background as to Carey Smith coming to Stratford and his own work as a part-time visiting surgeon, Christmas celebrations, hospital amalgamation, staff changes, hospital closure etc.
On the second side, Alison talks with Dr Barbara Gordon, daughter of Dr William Sowby and wife of Graham. She talks of her fathers work at Stratford Hospital. Recorded as part of Alison's research into her publication Stratford Hospital Memories.
