Description
Oral history. On side one, Alison Robinson talks with Rosalie Richards (nee Davies) of 105 Cordelia Street, Stratford 8th July 1998. Rosalie worked in the Stratford Hospital Kitchen 1955 - 1959. She talks of duties as a kitchen hand, food cooked and staff living quarters.
On side two, Alison talks to Kevin Richards, husband of Rosalie 8th July 1998. Kevin trained as a male nurse in the mid 1950s and talks of his nursing experience. He tells stories of escapades and tricks, and also describes an iron lung. He talks of building hospital equipment and gadgets in his spare time. In 1960, he transferred to the engineering department and worked under the guidance of Ivan Anderson, training as an engineer. Kevin gives further anecdotes.
Recorded as part of Alison's research into her publication Stratford Hospital Memories. No abstract has been made. An edited transcript is available.
