Oral history. Alison Robinson talks with Jean Gooch (nee Mackay) of Beaconsfield Road, Midhirst on 18th January 1999. Jean talks of her experiences on the domestic staff at Stratford Hospital between January 1935 and October 1938. She talks starting her working life as a domestic in a private home and then joining the domestic staff at the hospital. She describes the daily routines, working conditions and pay. She also describes how the Matron and nursing staff waiting on the domestic staff at a special Christmas dinner.
