Description
Bishop Selwyn laid the foundation stone in Fitzroy's first Holy Trinity church in 1845. This was thatched with bracken and ferm and Rev William Bollard took the first service in May 1845.
In 1872, the first building was replaced and over the years extended. This forms part of the existing church.
A booklet with the title page 'Church of the Holy Trinity, Te Henui, Taranaki. Journal commenced by Rev A Fowler S.A.C. Curate in charge in the week of the Diamond Jubilee 1905'.
The volume includes a copy of a sermon preached at Holy Trinity by Rev Wm Bolland. Clippings from Church magazines, Transcription of articles in the Taranaki Herald such as the 1905 Annual Meeting; information on the consecration of the Churchyard Bell Block; lists of old settlers in Henui district 1842 - 48; information on fairs; visitation of Bishops etc.
