Description
The Parihaka storekeeper around the turn of the century (1900) was a man by the man of Mr Kepa. While he lived at Pungarehu, he operated a store at the pa. It is assumed that this book belonged to either him or another store operator at Parihaka.
The book opens with a page titled Cash book of the Probation Officer at Opunake. There is one entry for Dec 7th 1887 written in English.
The rest of the book is filled with orders and cash reconciliations written in Maori dating from 1891 - 1897 which are presumed to be the records of the Parihaka store. It records the names of account holders, goods purchased and money owed.
