Cancellation dated 29 January 1883. Cancelation obscures postage stamp - addresses to Major W St Geo Douglas, Ashburton. Cancellation is dated September 12 1891. Envelope is black edged - addressed to Mr Douglas, Postmaster, Ashburton. Cancellation is dated September 4th 1897.

Public comments
William St George Douglas married Helen Mary Newland (daughter of John & Frances) in 1874. They moved to Ashburton where he was Postmaster. Later he was Chief Postmaster at Dunedin. Retired to Christchurch.
