Description
Eileen Decima (1906-1995) was the tenth child of Thomas Pole Hughson and Jean (known as Jenny) McLeod Hughson (nee White). Known as Decima, she took up piano lessons aged five and went on to be a professional musician. Decima married Hamilton Dickson in 1935.

The collection consists of three volumes in which Decima Dickson reflects on her life and family history:
"Music Throughout My Life" was written in 1971 and extended and improved 1991. In this volume she recalls her musical career.
"Looking Back" was written in 1990. In this volume, Decima recalls both childhood and adult memories.
"They Came to New Zealand in 1880" was written in August 1994. In this volume Decima tells the story of the Hughson family as a tribute to her parents.
