Description
Born in Timaru, Evelyn Marriott trained as a kindergarten teacher before joining the Methodist Church as a Deaconess. In 1940 she was appointed Manager of Rangiatea Maori Girls' Hostel at Moturoa, New Plymouth - a position she held until 1970, when she moved to Melbourne, Australia and married the Revd. Arthur Ellemor. She returned to New Plymouth in the early 1980s after the death of her husband and resided in New Plymouth for 10 years before returning once more to Melbourne.
In this interview Evelyn Ellemor ( nee Marriott ) talks of her experiences as matron/manager of Rangiatea Maori Girls' Hostel which was operated by the Methodist Church.
