Description
Captain Eliot Millar King was born in New Plymouth in 1892, the son of Newton King. He was a pilot in the Royal Naval Air Service, serving in the Mediterranean (Egypt and Syria) from 1914-1918. His actions during the war earned him the Distiguished Flying Cross, Croix de Guerre, 1914-1915 Star and Victory Medal. In peacetime a member of the firm Newton King Ltd, Eliot died in 1958.
The collection includes documents relating to his flying career and war service as well as albums of photographs taken by King in the Mediterranean. Some have been copied and are on photo file cards.
