Description
A deed, signed by Thomas Gore Browne, Governor of New Zealand, setting aside a reserve at the mouth of the Huatoki, New Plymouth. Includes the land to the west of the stream mouth and south to King Street and the area that was Puke Ariki Pa. A number of buildings are noted, including the boat sheds, the Custom house, post office, Town Hall, lecture rooms and the flag staff. The deed is dated April 12th 1859, has a written description of the land, a sketch of the area (water colour) and a wax seal.
