Description
John Brodie, better known as the novelist John Guthrie was born in 1905, educated at New Plymouth Boys' High School and Canterbury College where he won a NZ University Blue for Rugby. An injury received while playing rugby led to a leg amputation.
Brodie worked as a reporter on the Taranaki Daily News and was editor of the Radio Record before moving to live and write in Britain where he died in 1955, aged 49 years.
The collection contains carbon copy typescripts and newspaper clippings of articles and obituaries on Brodie.
