Description
Oliver Samuel, the son of Dr Jacob Samuel was a lawyer in New Plymouth.
His scrapbook contains newspaper clippings of various cases in which he was involved between October 1878 and November 1884. Cases range from divorce proceedings, petty crime, bankruptcy, rape and indecent assault.
Also included are clippings relating to the death of Samuel's father. In one he is noted as a Reverend in the Church of Scotland and the other infers a Jewish heritage.
