 Description
The Park Board was originally established in 1876 to develop what was then a scrub lined gully into a botanical garden initially known as the Recreation Ground with a series of lakes. In 1929 the Board presented New Plymouth Borough Council with the deeds to Pukekura Park. The move marked the end of the Board's existence and in its place the New Plymouth Borough formed the Pukekura Park Committee.
