Mrs Eleanor Tanner was the daughter of Rebecca Robinson and granddaughter of early European settler Joseph Robinson and Harena Kawanui.
A copy of an email from Peter Hodge to Michael Butler, New Plymouth, quoting Eleanor Tanner's memoirs. She recalls stories of Joseph Robinson's arrival in New Plymouth and mentions land at Whaler's Gate, evacuation of women and children to Nelson, Mrs Mary Mace's school etc.
