Description
Letters from William King Wakefield (1804-1862) to his wife Mary Wakefield (nee Longley) while she was a refugee in Nelson during the Taranaki Wars, dated 12 September 1860 - 8 February 1862.
William and Mary immigrated to New Zealand on the ship John Taylor in 1853 with their seven children. The family settled at Omata but Mary and three of their children were evacuated to Nelson during the hostilities of 1860.
