Description
A collection of reminiscences and notes on the history of the Kapuni district from settlement to 1965, compiled by local historian Mary Dorothy Annie (known as Dorothy) Waldegrave (nee Hutchinson and later Brooks) (1898-1999).
The papers include the diary of Mary Watkins in which she writes of the voyage of the ship Wanganui which sailed from London to New Zealand in 1870, correspondence with various local identities regarding genealogy and local history, and the history of the local dairy industry.
The papers were used by Arthur Harrison when he wrote the 1963 Kapuni School Jubilee publication. The original order has been maintained and the inventory is the same as that compiled by Dorothy Waldegrave.
