Description
The Merrilands Boy's Club was set up in 1957 to cater to the sporting activities and social outings for boys in the suburb of Merrilands in New Plymouth. Any boy from the age of six years until he left school could join the club. Activities included a Junior Pipe Band, rugby teams, indoor bowls and a cards evening for adult supporters. In 1965 club membership was opened to girls, allowing them to join in athletics, table tennis and gymnastics. The club ceased to operate in the mid 1970's.
The collection includes copies of the monthly newsletter 1957-1967 and correspondence files, annual reports and financial statements.
