Description
William Dawson Webster was born on the Amelia Thompson during the voyage from England to New Plymouth.
When he was sixteen years old, Webster travelled to Sydney, Australia on the schooner Seagull (August 1858). He was accompanied by two New Plymouth boys (young men?) Percy Bayley and Fred Windsor.
Describes the sailing conditions on the trip from New Plymouth to Sydney and return in the schooner Seagull via Manukau Harbour and Onehunga, captained by Captain Champion.
