Description
A cylindrical clockwork bottle jack. The brass body is designed to be hung vertically using a hook at the top of the long stem. A circular metal frame has four loops and one hook attached to it. " JOHN LINWOOD / WARRANTED " is marked on one side of the body along with a picture of a tree. A slot for winding the clockwork mechanism inside the jack is under a small brass cover above the text.

Bottle jacks like this one were designed to be hung in the kitchen fireplace with meat suspended from them. The clockwork mechanism would rotate the meat in front of the fire to ensure it was evenly cooked.
