Description
Originally a Plymouth Company settler, Jollie came to New Zealand on the Brougham in 1841. On arrival in Wellington, Jollie, a surveyor by profession, worked in the Wellington and Manawatu areas before moving on to Nelson, Christchurch and other places in the South Island.
The collection consists of Jollie's reminiscences of survey days. Written between 1873 and 1874, he recalls working in the field and mentions places visited, people he met and events.
