Mr George S. Manvell (1845-1931) sailed from London on board the ship 'Britannic' in 1876 to the USA, travelled from New York to San Francisco by train. Sailed on the SS 'City of New York' via Hawaii to Auckland New Zealand by train and coastal shipping, arriving Jan 28 1877. He travelled around New Zealand for two months before taking a ship to Australia and then later making his way back to England. Conducting business. He is assumed to be involved in either insurance or banking.
The collection consists of notes transcribed from the original and is not the full diary. The writer mentions meetings with individuals, business houses and the boats.
