This veil was given to Mr Richard Sortain-Smith by his second cousin Ava (Evelyn Rushton Gardner). It is not certain who the veil originally belonged to but it is thought that it may have been worn by Mary Britt Foley on her wedding day to Walter Scott (28.0.3.1853, All Saints Stepney Middlesex England).
