Object Detail


An Opunake High School prefect's blazer. This is a blue woollen blazer with three flapless front pockets and central black plastic fastening buttons (1 missing). On the front left-hand side chest pocket is the Opunake High School crest. embroidered onto dark blue woollen fabric and then stitched onto the pocket. There is a central crest with images of a lighthouse, book and burning torch, and Mount Taranaki above the words " UT PROSIM PATRIAE ". Around this crest stitched in yellow and blue thread is a vine like plant and in the middle a white unfurling scroll. The school initials "0 - H - S" are embroidered in blue thread onto this unfurling scroll. Underneath this badge stitched in white thread onto two similar pieces of dark blue woollen fabric are "PREFECT" and "1961". On the inside collar of the blazer is a black label that reads "PETONE MADE IN N.Z.". Underneath this is a white label which reads "A KOROGLEN CLOTH MADE IN NEW ZEALAND BY PETONE".
