John Leonard MacDonald was my great-grandfather, and harbourmaster at Mokau for a time when there was a lot of river traffic due to the mines upriver. Many of his photos were in the Mokau museum about 17 years ago, and may still be. He is buried in Halcombe, outside Fielding.
