View overlooking the Egmont Street, King Street areas. Possibly taken from the Theatre Royal building on Devon Street. Shows Trocadero/Arcadia Hotel (built c.1904), Railway Station, NZ Carrying Co., Grosvenor Hotel (formerly the Commonwealth Hotel, renamed the Grosvenor in 1906), Criterion Stables. Centre building, Hooker Brothers Sample Rooms (still used as such, 1970 for garage). "Paddock to the right used by Mr Saxton Sen. to graze his horse".
