Photograph of the Presentation of Colours to Taranaki Militia and Volunteers by Lady Warre. Large group of Taranaki Militia and volunteers (some mounted) gathered at Poverty Flat(?) with Marsland Hill in the background.There is a drum on the ground in front of a man in the centre of the photograph. Many of the men hold their swords or rifles in front of them. Two men are mounted on horses on the left hand side of the image, the left one is Major Herbert, the other is Capt Stapp. Others in the crowd include W.D. Francis, J. Ronald, G. Bayley, E. Morshead, Rawson, H. Newland, J. Mimms, Lieut Tree, W. Lawrence, Lieut Hirst, Dr Spence, Lieut McKetchnie, Capt Smith/Smitt, Capt J.N.Watt, Capt Goode.
