The Bushells tea brand dates from 1883 and is the oldest Australian tea company. The company diversified into New Zealand in 1937. To launch their product they sent a letter to every New Zealand housewife listed on the electoral roll, entitling her to claim a half pound (225g) of tea. The advertising gift quickly established Bushells Ltd in the New Zealand market. This tea tin, with its iconic views of Mount Taranaki, Mount Cook, Milford Sound and Lake Rotorua, dates from about the 1950s.
