A small copper coloured metal measuring jug with a wide base and body which narrows near the top. It has a tulip shaped opening and a tapered handle. A cypher of Queen Victoria appears in the inside of the top rim, depicting a crown the letters 'V' and 'R' either side of a circle divided into four. Front part of wide body has the remnants of the word " IMPERIAL " stamped on it and a " Q " denoting the size of the jug (Quart - quarter of a gallon).
This jug was originally used in the Ship Inn, an early New Plymouth hotel on Devon Street. The Ship Inn was demolished to make way for the Criterion Hotel.
