Description
A rough cut lead block. Three of the sides are relatively smooth, while one appears to have been cut or sawn off. The two largest surfaces on the lead are dented and pitted.

This lead block was used by Robert Graham, who owned a boot repair and saddlery shop in Queen Street, Waitara. 'Cakes" of lead like this one were frequently used by leatherworkers to lay leather on while it was punched. Because the lead is soft it does not damage the cutting edge of the punches.
