Powelliphanta gilliesi fallax. A Gillies' Land Snail, brown in colour. "395" is handwritten in black at the end of the shell. Interior has had a piece of paper inserted, handwritten in blue ink, "P. g. fallax / North side Parapara Peak / N.W. Nelson. coll PRJ -/1/72". Situated in a cardboard box with a white label with black printed text that reads "P. gilliesi fallax (Powell, 1930) / North side of Parapara Peak, / W. Nelson". A96.900-902 are also contained in this box.

This subspecies is found Takaka, West Nelson , South Island. It is a large carnivorous snails that eats earthworms, insects, and other snails. It is in decline and susceptible to habitat loss and predation. Little is known about this species.
