Description
Powelliphanta gilliesi compta. A Gillies' Land Snail, brown in colour. Interior has had cotton wool inserted. Exterior of the shell is deteriorating, with a crack appearing near the centre. Situated in a cardboard box with a white label with black printed text that reads "P. gilliesi compta (Powell, 1930) / The Castles, Aorere Valley, / W. Nelson". A96.896 is also contained in this box.

This subspecies is found Aorere Valley, West Nelson , South Island. It is a large carnivorous snails that eats earthworms, insects, and other snails. It is in decline and susceptible to habitat loss and predation. Little is known about this species.
