Powelliphanta gilliesi brunnea. A Gillies' Land Snail, brown in colour. Interior is hollow. Exterior of the shell is deteriorating, part of the outer layer has come away revealing the white underneath part. Situated in a cardboard box with a white label with black printed text that reads "P. gilliesi brunnea (Powell, 1938) / Small copse at mouth of Paterau R.".

This subspecies is found North of Paterau River,NWest Nelson , South Island. It is a large carnivorous snails that eats earthworms, insects, and other snails. It is in decline and susceptible to habitat loss and predation. Little is known about this species.
