Powelliphanta hochstetteri bicolor. A Hochstetter Land Snail, brown in colour. Interior has had cotton wool inserted. Underneath centre has some dirt build up. Situated in a cardboard box with a white label with black printed text that reads "P. hochstetteri bicolor (Powell, 1930) / Blumine Island, Queen Charlotte Sound". A96.883-886 is also contained in this box.

This subspecies is found in the Marlborough sounds, South Island. It is a large carnivorous snails that eats earthworms, insects, and other snails. It is in decline and susceptible to habitat loss and predation. Little is known about this species.
