Description
Powelliphanta hochstetteri consobrina. A Hochstetter Land Snail brown in colour with three distinct darker brown lines on the shell following the direction of the spiral. It has "453" handwritten in black at the end of the shell. Centre part of the shell has badly deteriorated, and the interior contains a piece of paper. "P. consobrinus / wangamoa Saddle, Marlborough" handwritten in black. Situated in a cardboard box with a white label with black printed text that reads "P. hochstetteri consobrina (Powell, 1936)". A96.882 is also contained in this box.

This subspecies is found on Mt Duppa and around Goulter's Bay in Nelson. It is a large carnivorous snails that eats earthworms, insects, and other snails. It is in decline and susceptible to habitat loss and predation. Little is known about this species.
